Evan and his Grandmas!

On Sept 12th Grandma Debbie took Evan, Dillon and me to the Utah State Fair (Ben and Grandpa had to work). We had so much fun! Evan was quite impressed with the giant vegetables that were grown. We saw lots of animals including cows, sheep, pigeons, and pigs. There were even some new baby piglets to admire! Evan was amazed at how big the mommy pig was and I was concerned that she would roll over and squash a piglet or two! (She was very close to doing this a few times!)



Mid day we stopped for a bite of lunch (that cost an arm and a leg. . .) and then had some cotton candy for dessert! Cotton candy is a staple food when you are at the fair! It was bigger than Evan so of course Grandma and I were happy to help him finish it! : )




Evan and I went to the "Little Folks Farm" while Grandma stayed with baby Dillon. I think this was Evan's favorite part of the fair. He got to carry a little basket around a kid sized farm. Throughout the farm he gathered some corn, picked an apple, dug up a carrot, took a tractor ride with a small bail of hay, brushed a sheep to collect wool and milked a cow! We put our harvest in his little basket and took it to the farmer's market where Evan got a dollar for his goods and then bought some fruit snacks with his earnings! He thought this was so fun!



It was really hot and we were all getting tired, so our last stop was a pony ride. Evan was really brave and didn't even need me to hold on to him, though he did want me to walk by him during the ride. His horse's name was Rusty. Thanks Grandma Debbie for a great day!





Sept. 13th was Evan's birthday! After a morning at the Doctor (thanks for that mommy!), Grandma Peggy took us out for a Birthday Breakfast for Evan. He had pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs and orange juice. As we were finishing our breakfast, the waitress and some of her co-workers came and sang a happy birthday song to Evan and brought a big bowl of ice cream! (Nothing like ice cream for breakfast, eh?) He wasn't too sure about the song. . .he was almost in tears because they scared him (we didn't ask them to sing and they didn't tell us they were going to) and it was,as Evan put it, "a little bit loud" but the ice cream quickly vanquished any remaining fears! Thanks Grandma Peggy for a delicious birthday meal!



Evan is pretty lucky to have two excellent Grandmas that love him so much!
