Vacation...or not...

Last weekend we went down to St. George with Ben's brother Jim and his family to see Great Grandpa Luty and to relax and have fun! The timing was great, the weather was perfect, what could possibly go wrong? Oh boy!! We arrived on Thursday afternoon and, after lunch, headed to the "Fiesta Family Fun" center. (Picture a trumped up "Trafalga") to play a little mini-golf and some arcade games.

Ben and Jim played a rousing game of air hockey in which the babies may have sustained a slight case of shaken baby syndrome, and Dillon had the time of his life on this little tiny bus!

If you ask Evan, his favorite part was playing "nature golf." (I guess miniature sounded like nature to him!)
Then it was back to the hotel to swim, catch some dinner and then head over to visit Great Grandpa and his dog, Mr. Jigs.
(Dillon and the dog got along very well!) This is pretty much where the fun ended for us! Through the night, both Ben and Dillon came down with various sick bugs. After a not too restful night, Dillon woke up with diarrhea (and had it until Thursday of this week) and Ben came down with a fever, chills, sore throat, and nausea. Luckily, no one threw up, and Evan came out of the whole thing unscathed! (I didn't get sick on vacation, it hit me two days later.)

So Friday, even though half of our little family was feeling incredibly under the weather, we decided to brave Zion Natl. Park. We chose a very easy hike, but even that was a little hard on us! Evan pooped out halfway up the trail, but since Ben felt so good, and I already had Dillon on my back, Uncle Jim saved the day by puting Evan on his shoulders (even though he already had his daughter Courtney on his back.)

Thanks Jim!! You were a true hero that day! After the hike, we had pretty much had all the fun we could handle for the day, so we went back to the hotel where Ben went to bed and the boys got baths and fresh clothes and a little down time before we went to get Grandpa for dinner. I was flying solo that night, so Tiffany was a life saver and helped me with Dillon (who wasn't the happiest camper) while I got Evan settled with his meal. Thank goodness we were traveling with the Ellis fam! They really helped us out a lot this past weekend! Anyway, after another sleepless night we were all awake by about 6 AM, so we just packed everything up, grabbed a quick bite to eat and hit the road. We felt bad for being party poopers, but we didn't have much of a choice!
In spite of the sickness and a little added stress, I am very glad that we got to see Great Grandpa, and got in some good family fun time!
Jim and Tiff, thanks for the fun trip, and especially for ALL the help! You guys are great and we love you tons!!

Boy oh Boy- you make us out to be the heroes?! Ben and Laura- you two are the ones to be patted on the back- had we been that sick and exhausted we would have left long before you did. YOu are the best parents ever to stick it out and try to give Evan a family vacation to remember. So glad we got to go with you. . . let's do it again and not pack the sick bugs next time!:)
